  • Established in 1939, the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, was the first engineering college in the then Travancore State.
  • Classes commenced on July 3rd, 1939, under the patronage of Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, the reigning monarch.
  • Initially housed in the former Chief Engineer’s office, Maj T.H.
  • Mathewman, a Britisher, served as the first Principal.
  • Under the Travancore University, it admitted 21 students each for Degree and Diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical branches.
  • In the late fifties, with the establishment of the Directorate of Technical Education, the college administration transitioned under the governance of the Government of Kerala.
  • It is Affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University..
