Library

The Lakshminath Bezbaroa Central Library (LBCL) at IIT Guwahati is a modern facility spread across a four-story building of 7500 sqm, is designed to support education, research, and learning with ample space for numerous readers.
LBCL offers a vast collection of books, journals, and magazines in both print and digital formats, is upgrading its circulation system to RFID technology.

Hostel

The Hostel Affairs Board manages all 14 hostels in the Institute, that include 11 hostels for boys, 2 for girls, and a Married Scholar Hostel.
Each hostel is equipped with modern facilities, which include music rooms, libraries, TV lounges, laundry services, an uninterrupted power supply and high-speed LAN in every room.

Sports

The Students’ Gymkhana Council at IIT Guwahati is focused on improving student life by promoting extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
The Sports Board oversees twelve sports clubs that cover both outdoor and indoor sports, and also organizes three major events every year: the Inter IIT Sports Meet, Spardha, and Spirit.

Placements

The Institute’s Centre for Career Development (CCD) managed campus placements for all graduating students.
In 2022-23, the total number of offers received was 1112, with the highest package was INR 2.40 Crore, the median package was INR 25.16 LPA, while the average package was INR 23.40 LPA, and the placement percentage was 92.21%..

Highlights

In 2023, according to NIRF, it secured the 7th position in engineering, 9th overall, and 9th among research institutions.
IIT Guwahati achieved a global ranking of 32 in the ‘Research Citations per Faculty’ category and placed 364 overall in the QS World University Rankings 2024.
