IIT Guwahati sprawls across 285 hectares, situated amidst the breathtaking beauty of the seven sisters and the mighty Brahmaputra, making it one of India’s most picturesque campuses.

IIT Guwahati, the Lakshminath Bezbaroa Central Library (LBCL) offers modern facilities and services to support education, research, and learning, is located in a four-story building covering 7500 sqm, and designed to accommodate numerous readers simultaneously, equipped with Wi-Fi and fully computerized systems.
The library provides access to a vast array of information spanning various fields through its extensive collection of books, journals, and magazines, available in both print and digital formats, and to enhance user experience, LBCL is upgrading its Circulation system using RFID technology.
Additionally, users can remotely access electronic resources via Shibboleth, in collaboration with the INDIAN Access Management Federation (INFED), and the entire library collection can be easily searched through the web-based On-Line Public Access Catalogue (WebOPAC) and the library’s website.

Hostel
The Hostel Affairs Board oversees all 14 hostels at the Institute, which cater to various needs, including accommodation for 11 boys hostels, 2 girls hostels, and a Married Scholar Hostel.
Each hostel is well-equipped with modern amenities such as music rooms, libraries, TV lounges, laundry facilities, uninterrupted power supply, and high-speed LAN connections in every room.Every hostel has its own mess, canteen, stationery shop, juice center, pantry, gymnasium, and both indoor and outdoor gaming facilities.
Additionally, the Institute provides two spacious Guest Houses for accommodating parents of students, along with residential quarters for faculty and staff.

Sports
IIT Guwahati, the Students’ Gymkhana Council is dedicated to enhancing student life by promoting extracurricular and co-curricular activities, which consists of five boards each with specific responsibilities.
The Sports Board focuses on organizing and encouraging various sports activities on campus with twelve clubs, catering to both outdoor and indoor sports, also it organizes three main events annually the Inter IIT Sports Meet, Spardha, and Spirit.
Outdoor sports such as athletics, cricket, football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, and lawn tennis are popular among students, and Indoor sports featuring synthetic badminton, table tennis, a gymnasium, a 50-meter long swimming pool, chess, squash courts, and carrom are also actively played throughout the year.
