Top 100 Engineering Colleges in India Based on NIRF Ranking 2023

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a pioneering initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to rank higher education institutions across the country. Introduced in 2015, NIRF aims to foster competitive excellence among institutions, encouraging them to enhance their educational standards. Rankings are released annually, and institutions are categorized across 11 domains, including Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, and more.

NIRF evaluates institutions using five key parameters. Each parameter has assigned weightage, culminating in a comprehensive score out of 100, determining the rankings.

NIRF Ranking Parameters

• Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR): This parameter evaluates factors such as student-teacher ratio, faculty qualifications, and the availability of learning resources like libraries and laboratories.
• Research and Professional Practice (RP): This assesses the quality and quantity of research publications, patents, and industry collaborations.
• Graduation Outcomes (GO): This parameter focuses on the employability of graduates, their higher studies pursuits, and their overall career progression.
• Outreach and Inclusivity (OI): This evaluates the institution’s efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion, as well as its engagement with the local community.
• Perception: This parameter considers the perception of stakeholders, including academic peers, employers, and students, about the institution’s reputation and overall quality.
