During NEET application, you need to choose two cities from the 550+ available NEET exam centre. These cities become your preferred exam centers, and it’s essential to rank them by preference. But here’s the catch – you can only choose cities from the state where you permanently live or where you currently reside. Most of the time, you’ll end up in one of the cities you picked.
Additionally, NEET is conducted at certain international locations for NRI (Non-Resident Indian) and foreign nationals aspiring to pursue medical education in India. List of cities where NEET exam is being conducted is given below. Checkout whether your city is available in the below list.

To secure admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses, candidates must meet percentile requirements in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET). For General and General-EWS categories, achieving a minimum of marks at the 50th percentile is necessary, while candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes need to attain the 40th percentile. Additionally, candidates with Benchmark Disabilities must target the 45th percentile for Unreserved and GEN-EWS categories, and the 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC-NCL categories. These percentiles are determined based on the highest marks in the NEET’s All India common merit list.
You can see the qualifying cut off marks for various categories for the last three years given below for your reference. If candidate NEET score is below this qualifying cutoff, then he/she is not eligible to study any medical under graduate course in any college located in India and abroad.

As NEET is the only entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, and AYUSH courses, NEET attracts millions of aspirants each year, creating a challenging environment for candidates. The competition is mainly fuelled by a limited number of medical seats available in medical colleges compared to the large pool of NEET applicants. This scarcity of seats intensifies the struggle for admission, making it imperative for candidates to perform exceptionally well in the NEET examination. The rigorous selection process ensures that only the top-performing candidates secure medical seats in top medical colleges, adding to the overall competitiveness of the NEET exam.
The number of medical seats available in the state along with the total number of candidates registered, appeared for the NEET exam and the total number of candidates qualified in the exam is given below for the last year. From the below table, you can check competition within your state.
