Eligibility Criteria
Studied – Inside
- If you have studied at least 7 years between (1st and 12th standard) and have completed either SSLC or 12th std (PUC).
- If you have studied only 11th and 12th std in Karnataka but your parents have studied in Karnataka for a period of seven years.
Studied – Outside
- If your mother tongue and your parents (either) mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava and they were domiciled in Karnataka.
- If your mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava and have resided and studied for a period of seven years (1st to 12th standard) in South Sholapur or Akkalkot or Jath or Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharashtra or Kasargod or Hosadurga or
Manjeshwar Taluks of Kerala. - If you have studied TEN full academic years from 1st to 10th std in Kannada Medium
Note: For the cases 1 and 2, the candidate should pass the Kannada Language Test and they should secure at least 12 marks in the Kannada Language Test which is conducted by KEA to become eligible.
Defence – Inside
- If the candidate’s parent is a defence personnel (working or retired) and posted outside Karnataka so the candidate has completed studies outside the state, however he/she is eligible if the parent has declared his hometown as
Karnataka while joining.
Defence – Outside
- If either of your parents is a defence personnel and stayed in Karnataka for a minimum of one year and posted on Duty to Jammu-Kashmir or North-Eastern states but however your family was permitted to stay by the defence authorities
and so have completed the qualifying examination in Karnataka itself.
Government Servant – Inside
- If either of your parents is serving or served the Union government / Karnataka state government outside the state, if he/she has declared that their hometown is Karnataka and have studied in Karnataka for a period of seven years.
- If either of your parents is serving or served under the All India Service of Karnataka Cadre / Karnataka state government outside the state during your study period of 1st to 12th std.
Government Servant – Outside
- If either of the parents is working in the Union / State Government in Karnataka, and stays here during the study period of the candidate during 11 or 12th and you have passed the qualifying examination in Karnataka.
CAPF – Inside
- If the candidate is a son / daughter of a CAPF (retired or serving) employee, if he declared his hometown as Karnataka while joining.
Member of Parliament
- If your parent is elected as MP from the state of Karnataka.
Jammu Kashmir Migrant
- If your parents are Jammu Kashmir Migrants.
Note: 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8 are only eligible for communal reservations except others cannot claim communal reservations.

- The candidate is expected to attempt all the questions, in order to obtain maximum marks.
