  • Govt Ayurveda College Dhanwantri was established 1973, This was a hospital at Tripunithura, which is under the Indigenous Medicine Department and transferred to Ayurveda College for clinical training of students in 1960.
  • Then in 1964 a land area was acquired for the college at Puthiyakavu and the foundation stone was laid by the then Health Minister Sri.B.Wellingdon.
  • Then it shifted to a new campus opened by the former President of India Sri VV Giri on 1973 9th April..

This Ayurveda Govt College new building spread over a land area of more than 11 acres was acquired for the college.
In 1982 a new two storied hospital building was opened in the college campus by the then Health Minister Sri.K.G.R.Kartha.

Govt Ayurveda College Dhanwantri Nagar has a new six storied building for 350 bedded hospital and accommodates Koumarabritya, Prasootitantra, Salyatantra and Salakyatantra wards and also an anorectal clinic with Ksharasootra facilities.
Rogavijnana, Kayachikitsa and Agadatantra wards are also available in this Hospital.
