  • Dr BRKR Govt Ayurvedic College, named after the first Chief Minister of Hyderabad, Sri Burgula Ramakrishna Rao, began as a private institution in 1935 in Hyderabad State.It was inaugurated by the Prince of Berar in Sultan Bazar.
  • In 1941, it became a government ayurvedic college by degree of the Nizam of Hyderabad.Over the years, it evolved, introducing courses in Hindi and Telugu mediums, adding modern medicine subjects, and affiliating with Osmania University in 1970.
  • The college adopted CCIM syllabus in 1973 and later affiliated with Dr NTR University of Health Sciences in 1986.
  • Post-graduate courses began in 1973 with specialties like Kayachikitsa, expanding to Shalya, Shalakya, Prasuti Tantra, and Dravyaguna.Panchakarma and Samhitha specialties were introduced in 2008-09.
